End Blocks
A train passage has a much higher pressure on the ends than on the other blocks. When setting out Z-blocs there must therefore be so called end blocks at the ends. The end blocks are equipped with concrete instead of absorbents; they have a length of 1,800 mm so that the weight will not give the placing machines a higher demand of dimension. When having a reference wind of e.g. 24/ms two blocks per end are required, in total 3.6 meters. As these ones do not have absorbents they have to be placed before and after the distance that has to be protected against noise.

Curve
There is no problem to take the little angular change in curves arising in each block joint, the sealing jointing seals as it is designed for in any case. However, you have to compensate the position of the Z-bloc in accordance with the National Rail Administration's instructions BVF 586.20
